RATING SYSTEM
This page details how we here at CCC distinguish between high and low-quality classic cars.
Our team is comprised of skilled inspectors and mechanics who have developed a streamlined ranking system to make purchasing the right quality car easy. When a CCC vehicle is acquired, it undergoes a thorough inspection and is assigned a score ranging from 1 to 5 based on seven key areas of the vehicle (see "The Seven Key Areas" for details). Vehicles with lower scores are referred to as "opportunity cars," those with average scores are called "classic cars," and those with higher scores are designated as "premier listings." Understanding the distinctions between these classifications is key for making the automotive purchase right for you.
CCC Ratings
Our premium inventory receives a classification that shows our cars having an overall condition score of 4-5 on a 5-point scale of condition. These are the highest quality vehicles that have gone through an extensive restoration or a very complete original example in the best condition. These vehicles are time capsules with well-earned patina. They could win a concours or fair very well in a presentation class. Collectors covet these vehicles which represent high investment potential.
Our classic inventory receives a classification that shows our cars having an overall condition score of 3-4 on a 5-point scale of condition. We would classify these as fun driver quality vehicles that people can enjoy and represent solid investments. These look terrific with excellent mechanicals. They may be older restorations with some evidence of prior repair.
Our opportunity inventory receives a classification that shows our cars have an overall condition score of 1-2 on a 5-point scale of condition. Opportunity cars make great project cars and are often at a more affordable price range. They are fun and hold value among those who admire a good patina or want a car they can drive without worrying about wear and tear. These cars may be older with evidence of prior repairs.
